A comfortable half-day journey combining two of the most memorable experiences the Dominican Republic has to offer in winter: humpback whale watching in the picturesque Samana Bay and a visit to the legendary Redonda Mountain with its swings over the cliff and a 360-degree panoramic view.
We leave Punta Cana early in the morning and head north to Samana Peninsula. Once on board the whale-watching boat, we sail into the bay, where every year from mid-January to late March thousands of humpback whales arrive from the North Atlantic to mate, give birth and raise their calves. You will see them breaching, slapping their tails on the water and surfacing right next to the boat - a truly humbling sight.
After lunch (included) we climb Redonda Mountain - a green hill rising over the Atlantic with one of the most photographed viewpoints in the country. From the top you can ride the famous “swings into the sky” suspended over the cliff edge, with the ocean and palm groves stretching to the horizon below you.
