Taino Valley Tropical Park
Escape to the real Dominican countryside
Just 20 km from Puerto Plata, in the green hills of Tubagua, Taino Valley Tropical Park is a relaxing day away from the busy tourist zones — a place where nature, culture and traditional flavors come together.
What you’ll experience
The day begins with a scenic drive through the tropical mountains, with sweeping views over the ocean and the valley. At the park, a guide leads you on an easy walk among flowers, bamboo, fruit trees and aromatic herbs, past natural springs and small fish ponds.
Along the way you’ll discover statues of the Taíno gods, the island’s first inhabitants, and reach a panoramic viewpoint that’s perfect for photos. You’ll learn how Dominican coffee is grown and prepared the traditional way — followed by a fresh coffee tasting and a tasting of seasonal tropical fruits.
The experience continues at Casa Antigua, a Dominican country house over 100 years old. Here a local team prepares your included lunch on a traditional wood-fired fogón, using organic ingredients from the garden and nearby farmers — a sit-down meal of authentic, typical Dominican dishes.
